Recreating Stubbs’ Dingo
Not your average painting conservation! As part of the Travellers’ Tails project at the National Maritime Museum, the museum’s Conservation Intern, Anna Don, was especially appointed to take on the challenge to recreate one of George Stubbs’ most iconic paintings, his Dingo. With not much known about the piece, Anna had a task on her hands to research and carry out Stubbs’ methods.
Discovering the Process Behind the Portrait
Filmmakers from Chocolate Films followed Anna’s theories and discoveries over a 4 month period. She discusses how, after much research, she painted in wax to learn more about the process behind the portrait. The narrative of the film very much developed as conservator Anna’s research developed over the project.
