In Conversation with… Sir David Attenborough
We made a series of eight films starring Sir David Attenborough about Captain Cook to provide additional information to The British Library exhibition about his adventures. Indeed, Sir David revealed in one film that he sailed the north part of the Great Barrier Reef using a chart prepared by Cook. But it was important to strike the right tone: Cook is revered as an explorer but his legacy is tainted through colonialism and slavery.
Working with a Living Legend
We had previously worked with the British Library but this was our first professional commission following a pitch process. It was a collaborative project in which we used a mix of animation, footage shot by a New Zealand filmmaker and assets supplied by the British Library. Subsequently, we went on to work on the Library’s next exhibition about the Saxons.
