Albertopolis opens at the V&A
In 2017 the Victoria and Albert Museum opened its new performance space, Albertopolis, in the Sackler Courtyard of its new Exhibition Road Quarter. They worked with different London theatre companies – each chosen for their reputation for diversity – to create four shows to be played out over the summer telling stories of the museum’s history, the building and the current exhibitions.
Using the Performers and Public
The V&A learning department asked us to produce a film showing the museum is an inclusive place and open to all, and with these shows being played out in a public space anybody could watch and even join in. Over several weekends, and prior to the public launch, Chocolate Films spoke to the theatre companies involved and the producers and performers about writing and developing their shows. There were also interviews with the audiences about their thoughts on the events.
