Delving into Tate’s fascinating archive
Tate‘s archive is a vast collection of treasures; from artefacts such as photos and prints, to sketchbooks and learning resources. We were lucky enough to produce over 10 films to contribute to the Tate’s Animating the Archives series.
This film looks at artist’s sketchbooks that are within the archive, many of which can now be viewed online.
How do you use your sketchbook?
This film reveals how, for both young and established artists, their sketchbook is a creative space for thinking, trying out ideas, making mistakes and even shopping lists. One could even say that sketchbooks become artworks in themselves. It goes on to explore how digital media is making these processes more shareable.
The film features of variety of artists of all ages and sketchbooks of all shapes and sizes owned by artists Graham Sutherland, Donald Rodney and Keith Vaughan.
