About Art Fund

Art Fund is a British charity that supports museums and galleries, by helping them to buy and display works of art for the nation; promoting them through the National Art Pass, the Art Guide app and more; and funding training and development. With Art Happens, Art Fund designed the UK’s first crowdfunding platform especially for museums and galleries. Visitors can browse for projects that inspire them and donate, giving arts institutions the chance to fundraise for individual projects.

Saving heritage

Chocolate Films has a long-standing relationship with Art Fund. Since 2018, we have been producing a series of short films to help raise funds as part of Art Happens, with great success: at the Foundling Museum (London), Museum of Norwich, Wallace Collection (London), Chapter Arts Centre (Cardiff), Dulwich Picture Gallery, Victoria Art Gallery (Bath), and the Florence Nightingale Museum (London).

Bringing Back The Foundling Museum’s First Female Champions

Art Fund’s crowdfunding platform Art Happens brought us to the Foundling Museum in London for a shoot with actress and writer Ruth Jones. The museum needed help to raise £20,000 to replace the portraits of the male governors in their Picture Gallery with their first female champions, forward-thinking Georgian women who spoke up for mothers and vulnerable children when no-one else was listening.

Shining A Light On Florence Nightingale

Our ongoing collaboration with Art Fund took us to the Florence Nightingale Museum to shoot a film for their Art Happens crowdfunding campaign. The Museum seeks to raise £15,000 to organise a special exhibition celebrating Florence Nightingale’s bicentenary year and her incredible achievements as a healthcare pioneer of her time.
